Overview

Befriending Death: Natural Burial

Natural and green burials offer options to express our care for the earth, even in death. Additionally, they open doorways to community-driven care with a personal, intimate, non-dogmatic, pragmatic and spiritual approach to returning to the earth and the mystery.

In this afternoon gathering, over tea and treats, co-Founder of Heartward Sanctuary, will present some context about natural burial as an alternative to conventional burial (and other disposition options) that allow us to return the death and dying process to more generative, earth-loving way. Topics include: the natural burial process, home funerals, and community care.

Julia will offer a bit about natural burial in general and also specifically about natural burial here at Heartward Sanctuary. There will be plenty of space for questions. We’ll also take a walk to the Ancestral Grove at Heartward Sanctuary to see the grave-gardens in bloom.

We’ll have Burial Interest Forms and our Grave-Garden Planting Guide available for attendees.

**This event is designed for folks who are curious about natural burial, regardless of location. We’ll reserve the Heartward-specific parts for the second half of our time together.

Suggested Contribution: $30 or by-donation for Sustainers
